After spending a week in the Big Apple, it was time to hit the mountains. Gorgeous day, 21 miles on Day 1, 9 miles on Day 2. Had to go for Mount Garfield, as it looked like I would finally get a view from the summit after many fogged in attempts in the past. Spectacular views of the Pemi Wilderness, where I ended up spending the night, from high above on the ridge line. Chilly night with clear skies. Surprised there weren't more people out with the gorgeous weather (not that I'm complaining). Even so, ran into a bunch of nice people on the more secluded sections of my hike. Garfield Pond was an inviting place to set up camp, but I had plenty of daylight so I headed into the Pemi Wilderness, where many off-trail sites are possible with plenty of water nearby. That cup of Mad River Coffee on the way back south was a great way to cap off the trip.
